With focus on organic architecture Œ? a natural link between mankind and the environment - Wright changed the very way buildings are designed and built today. He designed structures with open floor plans, low pitched ceilings, projecting eaves with dentil mouldings and robust woodwork, all designed to blend with nature. Focal Point provides you the opportunity of becoming part of 20th Century architectural history with these unique designs. Colonial Williamsburg Foundation In the 1920s, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. began a 30-year quest to recreate the town of Williamsburg by restoring homes and buildings to their 18th-century origins. Hundreds of period rooms were recreated with distinctive architectural mouldings and elegant furnishings. Nowhere is there a style so well known and instantly recognizable as that of Williamsburg. After 450 years, the elegant simplicity of the architecture still makes a classic statement in todayŒÍs homes. Focal Point is pleased to present several designs in its Colonial WilliamsburgŒ¬ Collection, reminiscent of Colonial and Georgian architecture. National Trust For Historic Preservation Properties owned and preserved by the National Trust include Woodlawn, a gift from George Washington to Eleanor ŒñNellyŒî Custis, granddaughter of Martha Washington, and Oatlands, a 19th Century working plantation with ornate detail throughout. And finally, the Woodrow Wilson House, a dignified townhouse on Embassy Row in Washington, D.C. Each property and its ornament was chosen by Focal Point to be part of its National Trust Collection, representative of the best of American architecture. Victorian Society In America Victorian architecture is reflective of French, British and American architectural styles that transitioned the 19th and 20th Centuries Œ? Second Empire, Romanesque Revival, Queen Anne and Stick & Shingle designs. Featuring varied roof lines, applied ornament, complex cornices and contrasting paint applications, structures had a unique flavor that easily flowed across the country and the world. Victorian design is a reflection of what many Americans felt about themselves at the end of the 19th Century Œ? substantial, prosperous and very sure of their place in the world Œ? a visual statement easily distinguishable in todayŒÍs design. Historic Natchez Foundation A Century and a half ago, Natchez was capital to AmericaŒÍs Cotton Kingdom and home to the worldŒÍs wealthiest planters. There they built impressive villas with great white columns and an abundance of classical detail. Their legacy, miraculously preserved, is today one of the richest concentrations of early nineteenth century architecture in America, ranging in style from the delicate Federal Neoclassical, through the massive Greek Revival, and up to the elaborate Italianate. Focal Point offers designs from DŒÍEvereux, Stanton Hall, Glenburnie and several other historical properties unique to Historic Natchez.
