GR021 Authentic Models Classic Staunton Chess Set

LIFESTYLE COLLECTION

The Classic Staunton Chess Set number GR021 by Authentic Models is a part of the Classic Board Games Collection and measures 11.2L x 10.9W x 1.7H inches and weights 1.21 lbs. and is packaged in printed gift box. Our production is a detailed replica of an original ivory set manufactured by the British Jacques company, circa 1850, and purchased at a 1990s London auction. English chess master, Howard Saunton, promoted this set at the first international chess tournament in 1851. Its clearly distinguishable pieces soon became the competition standard known as the Staunton set. Though red and ivory pieces were the convention up until the 20th C., other light and dark variations were used throughout history. The maharajas and nabobs of the Indian subcontinent even played with green and ivory pieces! Our red and ivory Grandmasters set is for players, for lovers of beauty and art, and for interiors of refined style that require a classic game board or table on display at all times.
